Canton RFC Male Voice Choir was formed in 1993 when a group of former rugby players from Canton RFC were heard singing in the bar of The Butcher's Arms pub after a rugby international and were complimented and told that they were really quite good! Under the directorship of Monica Roblin who at the time was Head of Music at Fitzalan High School, a choir was formed. There were a small number choristers but gradually numbers increased over the years and now there are consistently almost 40 active choristers.
The main function of the choir is to raise funds for charity whilst enjoying performing as a choir and hopefully giving audiences an enjoyable experience. Over the years it has raised tens of thousands of pounds for a large number of charitable causes.
The choir has a varied repetoire of songs including classical, spiritual, hymns (Welsh and English) pop, and songs from well known Musicals.
We have toured to many parts of Wales, England, Scotland and Irelandand continue to do so.
The choir is well known in South East Wales and is regularly called upon to sing at charity concerts, weddings, funerals and corporate funtions particularly at the rugby internationals.
